When I bought this I had read that it was impossible to network without an expensive piece of extra equipment. I have to tell you, I got it hooked up to my network in about 10 minutes. It took longer to install the software on all of the computers than it did to network this printer. As far as cost of ink goes, we print all the time, and then refill. We have had no problems with this printer. I didn't give it ia 5 stars because it is a bit loud, but it also has the ability, in the software, to make it quieter. The hard part was networking my Vista computer to see the XP network, and getting the vista to print to the network printer, this canon. But I got it.
